The WSV Basel is a water sports club founded in Basel in 1890 . The club consists of the three divisions water polo , canoe and the swimming school department.

Water polo department

In the area of ​​water polo there is the men's and women's team and the children's and youth groups. Between 1997 and 2005, the women's team won the Swiss championship eight times under the direction of Michel Grasso and qualified for the European Cup several times. The women's team plays in the highest women's league in Switzerland and is currently being rebuilt with young players under the direction of Robert Jobst. The men's team consists of a syndicate with SSG Weil am Rhein and plays in the 1st division north. The youth team is under construction.

Canoe Department

The canoe division began in 1966 with a 2-man Canadian from club member Rolf Buser. Swimmers and water polo players built the plastic boats on their own at Rolf Buser's home on Utengasse. The canoe department now has many Canadians and kayaks of all disciplines. The boathouse is located on the Rhine in the nearby Parc des Eaux Vives.
