Treading water is a movement that is used to stabilize yourself in the water in an upright position.

When treading water, the bowl-shaped palms of the hands are bent with small, figure-eight-shaped hand movements so that there is buoyancy. Treading water is part of swimming lessons . "Treading water" is also in water polo , the super-water-holding called.
