The Rödlinghausen water tower is a technical monument in the former Rödlinghausen district of Detmold (today Detmold-Nord ).

History and architecture

The tower was built in 1912 by the Paderborn company Köthenburger based on a design by the city architect Paul Schuster (1866–1932) on behalf of the Detmold public utilities. Commissioning took place on December 23, 1912.

The tower shaft is made of plastered reinforced concrete, above which is the water tank. This is surrounded and covered by a slated timber framework.

The original water tank was 7 m in diameter and 4 m high. The container volume was 150 m³. In 1924, another tank with a volume of 100 m³ was installed in the approximately 10 m high supporting structure.

Since March 19, 1986 the water tower with the number 155 has been entered in the list of architectural monuments of the city of Detmold .

The water tower is still owned by the Detmold municipal utility and today houses a pressure reducer system for the Remmighausen district .
