Remmighausen ( Low German : Remmsen ) is a district of Detmold in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia and is located about five kilometers southeast of the city center. The neighboring districts of Detmold are Diestelbruch , Schönemark , Hornoldendorf and Spork-Eichholz in a clockwise direction .

history

Remmighausen was founded in 1052 and celebrated its 950th anniversary in 2002. The origin of the name can be traced back either to the previous landowner Remiken or to St. Remigius .

On January 1, 1970 Remmighausen was incorporated into the district town of Detmold.

In Remmighausen, a total of 1924 citizens live on an area of ​​3.7 km² (August 2006). The local mayor is currently Bärbel Droste (SPD), the representative on the city ​​council is Klaus Brand (SPD).

Remmighausen is on the Herford - Himmighausen railway line . In 1895 the district became a stop in the railway network for passenger and freight trains. Today, however, passenger trains no longer stop at Remmighausen station, although goods are handled. In order to preserve the station - but above all to enlarge the premises - the Lippische Eisenindustrie bought the station area with the goods handling systems . The goods traffic of the Lippe iron industry takes place regularly. The reactivation of the Remmighausen train station as a traffic station for passenger traffic has been discussed again and again on a political level, but is not yet in sight.

tram

Until its closure in 1952, Remmighausen was also used by trains on the PESAG tram line Detmold - Paderborn and thus connected to the Detmold tram network.

Bus transport

Today only buses go to Remmighausen. These include the regional buses on routes 772 and 780 in the direction of Bad Meinberg and Horn and the Detmold city bus route 709.
