Oettet-Bremke is a district of Detmold in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia and is located about five kilometers north of the city center. The neighboring districts of Detmold are Bentrup , Loßbruch , Klüt , Jerxen-Orbke and Niewald in a clockwise direction . Oetter-Bremke was probably founded as Hagenhufendorf in the 13th century, just like the neighboring villages of Nienhagen and Niewald . The name "OETTEN" comes from otters who probably lived in the nearby Oetternbach. Oetter is first mentioned in writing in 1360 as Oveteren . Bremke is mentioned as "Bredenbeke" in old documents from 1322 and 1507.

On January 1, 1970, Oettern-Bremke was incorporated into the district town of Detmold.

A total of 153 citizens live in Oettern-Bremke on an area of 3.2 km² (August 2006). The local mayor is currently Bernd Moritz ( SPD ), the representative on the city council is Wolfgang Köster (SPD).
