Oberschönhagen is a district of Detmold in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia and is located about seven kilometers east of the city center. The neighboring districts of Detmold are Diestelbruch and Niederschönhagen . The 4.1 km² district of Oberschönhagen has some well-preserved half-timbered buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries with beautiful inscriptions above the arches.

On January 1st, 1970 Oberschönhagen was incorporated into the district town of Detmold. The district of Fissenknick was reclassified to Horn-Bad Meinberg .

A total of 64 citizens live in Oberschönhagen on an area of ​​4.1 km² (August 2006). The local mayor is currently Friedrich Uthmeier ( CDU ), the representative in the city ​​council is Manfred Stölting ( SPD ).
