Vasily Kuzmich Awerin
Vasily Kuzmich Aveverin ( Russian Василий Кузьмич Аверин ; * 1884 in Letoschniki , Smolensk Governorate , Russian Empire ; † December 28, 1945 in Jakutsk , Soviet Union ) was a Ukrainian- Soviet revolutionary and politician.
Life
Awerin was a member of the Provisional Soviet Government in Ukraine in 1918. In February 1919 he headed the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs of Ukraine. He was a member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Central Executive Committee of the USSR. During the Stalinist purges , Awerin was arrested in 1937 and sentenced to eight years in a correctional camp. He was released in November 1945 after World War II and was strangled by an unknown man on December 28th.
