Wat Chakkrawat (full name: Wat Chakkrawat Rachawat Woramahawihan , Thai : วัดจักรวรรดิ ราชาวา ส วรมหาวิหาร , also Wat Sam Pluem, วัด สาม ปลื้ม ) is a Buddhist temple ( Wat ) in the ( Khet ) Samphanthawong district of Bangkok , Thailand .

Wat Chakkrawat can be reached after a short walk from Ratchawong Pier (along Ratchawong Street and left into the first small avenue). Although the temple area is relatively small, it is home to a large number of monks and novices and has a number of different architectural styles.

To the right of the entrance gate to the temple area is a Wihan whose unusual outer wall is designed in black and gold patterns that are otherwise only found on inner walls or roofs. Next to the black viharn there is another, larger one that is more traditional. To the left of the gate there is a flight of stairs to a platform on which the Mondop stands, at the top of which sits a prang . There is a shrine for a Buddha's footprint here . In two small ponds there are some crocodiles that were common here in the Mae Nam Chao Phraya (Chao Phraya River) . To the north of this there is a new, elegant prang, whose restrained gold jewelry draws the visitor's attention to the standing Buddha figures, which look outwards from all four sides.

The ubosot of the temple, all white, faces the modern prang and is usually closed.
