Wat Mae Pang

Wat Mae Pang ( Thai วัด แม่ ปั๋ง ) is a Buddhist temple complex ( Wat ) in the province of Chiang Mai and represents a so-called forest temple, a temple of the Thai forest tradition .

Wat Mae Pang is located about 75 kilometers north of Chiang Mai in the district ( Amphoe ) Phrao (Thai พร้าว ). The temple is located at the foot of Doi Mae Pang Mountain, on the top of which is a memorial to Luang Pu Waen.

History and design

Wat Mae Pang gained importance because from 1962 until his death on July 2, 1985 it was the residence port of the highly revered monk Luang Pu Waen Sujinno ( หลวง ปู่ แหวน สุจิ ณฺ โณ ).

A few years ago, a memorial ( Samnak Song , สำนักสงฆ์ ) was set up on Doi Mae Pang Mountain , which bears the name of the mountain and is known throughout the country as Wat Doi Mae Pang .

Many buildings are wooden structures, the Wihan and a cell of a recluse , the Rong Yang Kilet or Rong Fai is called. Luang Phor Waen Sujinno is still reminiscent of his hut ( kuti ) , his portrait in meditation and a small, square museum with his ashes, a wax model and personal items.
