Wat Tham Khao Pun

Wat Tham Khao Pun ( Thai วัด ถ้ำ เขา ปูน , Khao Pun Cave Temple) is a Buddhist temple complex ( wat ) in Kanchanaburi .

location

Wat Tham Khao Pun is four kilometers outside of Kanchanaburi on the 3228 highway. From here you have a wonderful view of the nearby Mae Nam Khwae Noi (Khwae Noi River) .

Attractions

The temple also has a cave, which consists of several rooms that are connected by a network of narrow passages. Statues of the Buddha and Hindu deities are exhibited in the caves . In return for a donation, you can get into the cave system and come out again at another point.

A huge Chinese-style Buddha statue overlooks the Mae Nam Khwae Noi and the railway line that leaves the city to the south. Another large, reclining Buddha statue is very revered by the local population.


Incidents

In 1995 a British tourist was murdered at the temple.
