Order of Watan

Watan Order (German: Order of the Fatherland) is the highest state decoration in Turkmenistan , which can only be awarded to the incumbent president of the country.

The Watan Order is a chain made of yellow gold and white gold, set with twenty-two octets, each decorated with diamonds and enamel . On the octets there are images of famous buildings in Turkmenistan, such as the Arch of Neutrality and the Monument of Independence. Another, larger octet hangs on the chain, covered with green enamel and diamonds. The medal weighs a total of 925 grams, with a total of 55 carats of diamonds.

Award

The order was created for the incumbent Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and was awarded to him on his 50th birthday in 2007. Every President of Turkmenistan may be awarded the Watan Order once if he has achieved exceptional domestic and foreign policy achievements .
