The WAVE AKADEMIE for digital media is a state-recognized supplementary school of the State of Berlin. history
The WAVE AKADEMIE für Digitale Medien was founded in 2013 with the idea of establishing an interdisciplinary media academy in Berlin. School operations began in October 2013 with the first classes and students in Lehrter Str. In Berlin-Moabit. The school moved to its current location in Berlin-Mitte in September 2014. The school was founded by Tobias Dickmann, who previously worked as a lecturer a. a. for the Landesmusikakademie Berlin, as well as audio producer, sound engineer and musician.
When it was founded in 2013, it was advertised as a supplementary school and the training courses were awarded BAföG by the Berlin Senate Administration. In October 2018, the State of Berlin, represented by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family, recognized it as a state-recognized supplementary school. Since 2013, the WAVE AKADEMIE für Digitale Medien has also been a certified educational institution according to AZAV .
Teaching concept
The teaching concept is technically and practically oriented in the sense of a vocational school. The theoretical basic education is combined with large parts of practical as well as artistic and creative content and projects. The lecturers are freelance teachers and usually continue to work in their industries / professions in order to directly integrate current knowledge and developments into the education.
