Waving

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Waving is a style of dance that creates the illusion of a wave propagating through the body. It can run vertically or horizontally and change its direction. The effect is created by isolating individual body parts. Waving is part of the hip-hop and funk culture and funk styles of street dance and often combined with popping , strobing, ticking or electric boogaloo .

Armwave

The arm shaft begins in the knuckles, extends to the wrist, then reaches the elbow and ends at the shoulder. Then it can be completed with the second arm in the opposite direction. The use of the upper body increases the effect.

Bodywave

The body wave begins with pulling back the shoulders, followed by the upper body, abdomen, pelvis, and ends in a crouching position. Then it can run back towards the head.

Combinations and changes of direction

Arm and body waves can be combined with each other and change their direction. Waving can be combined with popping, ticking and strobing styles to create different effects.
