The WeFly! Team is a civil aerobatic team from Italy . The team is financed by sponsors and patrons. The special thing about this team is that the pilots are physically disabled.

The team consists of:

  • Team Leader Alessandro Paleri (1972), pilot since 1999, approx. 1800 flight hours, tail number 1
  • Left wingman Marco Cherubini (1973), pilot since 2006, approx. 1300 flight hours, tail number 3
  • Right wingman Erich Kustatscher (1950), tail number 4
  • Speaker & PR Pino Di Feo (1973), pilot since 1994
  • Photographer Marco Tricarico (1963)

history

The team was founded in 2007 with its home base Aviosuperficie di Caposile - Jesolo . On July 22nd, 2008 FULVIO GAMBA “BUBU” had a fatal accident during a flight demonstration. He crashed on the plane with tail number 2. Since then, the tail number 2 has not been used in the formation to honor his memory. The team received its new Texan 2.0 aircraft on April 24, 2008. The team showed its flight program on Air14 at the Payerne military airfield for 3 days in a row in the summer of 2014 .

WeFly! Team and space travel

During the space mission "Futura" ASI, the Italian astronaut and air force pilot Captain Samantha Cristoforetti , a flag of the team "WeFly! Futura ... dared to fly" was brought into space. The flag was designed for the occasion by the renowned aircraft designer Mirco Pecorari to send a message to all of humanity against stereotypes and prejudices against the disabled. It shows the strength, courage and determination of these pilots.

After having been in space for 200 days, the flag was brought to sull'Aviosuperficie Caposile (Venice) on June 4th, 2016, home of the "WeFly! Team", during the 7th edition of the "FlyDonna" event, which will host female pilots is dedicated.
