The Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Trinkwassertalsperren eV (ATT) is a non-profit association of around 40 water supply companies, water associations, dam companies and administrations, university, investigation and research institutes in the Federal Republic of Germany and in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which are involved in the extraction, treatment and distribution of Deal with drinking water from dams .

In 2009, the member companies provided around 444 million m 3 of raw water for the drinking water supply from almost 70 dams and storage basins and delivered almost 366 million m 3 of drinking water. That is more than 90% of the drinking water obtained from dams in the Federal Republic of Germany. About 10% of all citizens in Germany are supplied with drinking water from dams.

tasks

The purpose of the association is:

  • Exchange of experience and know-how transfer
The mutual exchange of information between the members forms the basis of the work of the ATT. It is mainly practiced in the technical committee and in the working groups. The regularly published members' letter reports on current developments.
  • Continuing education and training
For special questions, the ATT organizes events for further education and training of its members, e.g. B. in dam attendant training or in the laboratory.
  • Representation of common technical and economic concerns
The ATT participates in the creation of legal and technical-scientific regulations. It develops proposals for action for its members.
  • Cooperation with authorities and other technical and scientific associations
Through the cooperation with the other technical and scientific associations of the water industry, such as B. the DWA and the DVGW, synergies can be achieved and the issues of water supply from dams can be incorporated.
  • Research and Development
The ATT encourages investigations and supports research on the processes taking place in drinking water reservoirs and their inflows and outflows, which serve to improve and safeguard the water quality, is concerned with the optimization, further development and monitoring of the processes for treating drinking water from reservoirs; it is dedicated to the questions of storage, transport and distribution of drinking water from dams.
  • Informing the public
The ATT informs the interested public about special features in connection with the supply of drinking water from reservoirs.

organization

According to its statutes, the organs of the ATT are the general assembly, the board of directors and the management.

  • The general assembly is the steering and decision-making body. Their calling, tasks, meeting and responsibilities are set out in the statutes.
  • The board consists of the chairman and up to two deputies. The board represents the ATT externally. Its members are volunteers.
  • The chairman is responsible for all tasks and business of the association, unless they are reserved for the general assembly.

The current chairman is Lothar Scheuer, board member of the Agger Association , Gummersbach.

Members

The members

  • operate dams for the public drinking water supply,
  • prepare water obtained from dams to make drinking water, distribute it in their own network and deliver it to other customers,
  • deal with issues relating to the supply of drinking water from reservoirs.

As of November 22, 2013, the association consists of a total of 41 members

  • 6 long-distance water supply companies,
  • 1 dam management,
  • 1 dam operation,
  • 1 water management authority,
  • 2 university and college institutes,
  • 5 investigation and research institutes.

history

On November 23, 1970, the drinking water reservoirs working group was founded by representatives from eight water supply companies in Siegburg, with the aim of exchanging experiences among the members in connection with the supply of drinking water from reservoirs, defining tasks that are of interest together and relating them to science and research to solve.
