Drinking water dam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A drinking water dam is a dam that is built for a reservoir for drinking water production - and not primarily for hydropower.

Examples:

  • Rurtalsperre , the largest reservoir in western Germany
  • Jawa dam (Jordan) for drinking water storage, approx. 3200 BC Chr.
  • Potworks Dam , Antigua - largest reservoir in the Caribbean
  • Rappbode dam , largest drinking water dam in Germany
