Webshots ( German: " WWW shots ") offer the opportunity to distribute your own photos on the Internet. The website has been operated by American Greetings since 2007 .
Webshots was in 1996 as Internet domain for professional wallpapers (Engl. Wallpaper ) was established. In 1999, photo sharing was added (in German: “make others accessible” or “release”). As of October 17, 2009, there were more than 651 million photos on the site. Most can be found by anyone, you can add comments to photos and blog and participate in a community .
The website is financed by advertising. For an annual fee, users can become so-called “premium members” who can then view the photo pages without advertising and get a larger contingent to “ upload ”. There were also small promotional videos on most of the sites.
