The relatively well-preserved Wedge Tomb of Scrahallia (known locally as Altóir or Altóir Ula , Irish for " grave altar") is located in the townland of Scrahallia (Irish Sraith Sháile ) on the southwest slope of Cashel Hill in southwest Connemara in County Galway in Ireland . Wedge Tombs ( German "Keilgräber" ), formerly also called "wedge-shaped gallery grave", are aisle-less, mostly undivided megalithic buildings from the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age .
The west-east oriented chamber is 3.1 m long and 1.2 m wide at the wider west end. A side plate (probably a former capstone) is upright on the side of the chamber. A 1.7 m long capstone lies on top. The closely set outer masonry tapers to a point about 1.5 m behind the end stone. Traces of the excavated mound can be seen around the chamber.
