The Wehmeyer monument in Gotha ( Thuringia ) is a memorial stone in the castle park from 1813.

history

On the path leading south through the park, Duke August von Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg had a monument erected in 1813 in memory of the ducal head gardener Heinrich Christian Wehmeyer (1729–1813). It is a tree trunk reproduced in stone, bearing a stone tablet with the following inscription: "The man of the worthy Wehmeyer". The Duke gratefully honored his skillful head gardener, the tireless planter of the zoo that was converted into a park.
