White skin cancer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To distinguish it from (malignant) melanoma (black skin cancer ), basal cell carcinoma (basalioma) and squamous cell carcinoma (spinalioma) are referred to as white skin cancer (also light skin cancer ) .

This is not a technical term , but a (misleading) lay term that does not take into account that pigmented growths can occasionally occur in basalioma or spinalioma and unpigmented ("a melanotic ") melanoma in black skin cancer . The term is therefore not used in medical terminology ; however, it is used in patient communication.
