The sacrament jug or wine jug as a liturgical device is a jug that is used for the wine in the celebration of the Lord's Supper . The wine is poured into the sacrament goblets with the measuring jug . The jug is usually artistically designed and can carry Christian symbols, ornaments or inscriptions. It is made of silver if possible, but was also often made of tin until the 19th century.
