Thomas Wells Thompson (born November 25, 1983 in Winston-Salem , North Carolina ) is an American football player . The midfielder currently plays for Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer . He previously worked for the New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids .
Career
Thompson played for Wake Forest University while he was in college. He signed his first professional contract with New England Revolution in January 2007 , before moving to the Colorado Rapids two years later . There he won the championship with the team in 2010. But after he was only a substitute in the 2012 season , he wanted to leave the club. Colorado Rapids therefore gave him the clearance and Thompson moved to Chicago Fire .
