World Organization Against Torture

The World Organization Against Torture ( OMCT ; of French Organization Mondiale contre la Torture ; English World Organization Against Torture ), 1985 in Geneva established is an international alliance of non-governmental organizations dedicated to the fight against torture , executions in summary proceedings under violence and other forms of human rights violations dedicate. The international organization is part of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch among the most influential non-governmental organizations and plays an active role in the UN Human Rights Treaty Bodies and when working in Geneva UN Human Rights Council .

The organization is based in Geneva .

  • Public denunciation of torture and other human rights violations: Based on information from members of their network (297 NGOs in 92 countries) aimed OMCT called urgent appeals (urgent appeals) reach to government and intergovernmental institutions, non-governmental bodies and interest groups.
  • Participation in UN organizations in the context of preventive measures against torture and human rights violations.
  • Direct medical, legal and social support to victims.
