World Day for Cultural Development

The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (English World Day for Cultural Diversity, for Dialogue and Development ) is a day of action of UNESCO , the year on May 21 will be celebrated. On March 3, 2011, the German Cultural Council presented the nationwide campaign “Strengthening culture well” at a press conference in Berlin on the occasion of UNESCO World Day on May 21, 2011, which is being organized together with the German Federal Cultural Foundation . On the occasion of World Day on May 21, 2018, the study "Art in the Immigration Society - Contributions of the Arts for Coexistence in Diversity" was published by the German Commission for UNESCO and the Bertelsmann Foundation . This represented u. a. firmly: “The question of the diversity of a society is therefore not only a question of population composition, legal status or media reporting, but also always means negotiating ambiguities and identities, affiliations, shared or unrelated memories and common visions of the future. Culture is also the conversation about what and who we are, where we come from and what we may be in the future and how we can live. ”The study made seven recommendations for action, the first of which was: intercultural offers of the publicly funded arts and crafts To further strengthen and consolidate cultural institutions.
