Wendling (municipality of Bockfließ)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wendling is a remote place in the southeast of the community of Großengersdorf in Lower Austria .

In the Franziszeischen cadastre a small part of the former village is called "oed".

During the Thirty Years' War the place was so badly damaged that it was not rebuilt afterwards. Today's desert was designed as a riverside village and lies at the foot of a slope, along which the Mühlbach flows. In places, a slight bump marks the former row of houses and at the northern end a dune rises up, which is planted with robinia. This dune is deeply excavated, probably a remnant of the Second World War and is now used as a depository. The desolate village of Wendling is included in the map by Marinoni (1725) as part of the Wolkersdorfer Dienst. The fields east of the Mühlbach bear the name "Wendling behind the Zeil" and represent today's cadastral community of Wendlingerhof .

After the demise of Wendling, the Wendlingerhof was built further east, a sheep farm that developed into an agricultural operation. Wendlingerhof has recently been repopulated and is now a forest settlement under the name Wendlingerhof .
