Wendy McElroy
Wendy McElroy (* 1951 ) is a Canadian writer , advocate of individualistic anarchism and feminist .
Live and act
McElroy is a well-known proponent of sex-positive feminism . She supports the free availability of pornography and condemns the efforts of anti- pornographic feminism. In the past, McElroy has repeatedly expressed himself critical of US regulations on the subject of sexual harassment , in particular of the “zero tolerance regulations” that are common in elementary schools there. She regards these as “far too broad and vague” and stresses that the relevant regulations were not based on sound scientific research that would allow responsible regulation to be enacted.
In terms of social policy, McElroy stands in the tradition of North American individual anarchism , as it was formulated and represented by Benjamin Tucker in particular at the end of the 19th century . Her first major work was an inventory and compilation of a detailed index to the magazine Liberty published by Tucker 1881-1908 . Like Tucker, she rejects the form of government of parliamentary democracy and calls for an economic system that is as little state-regulated as possible, a truly free market economy , so, as one of her book titles succinctly says, is of the opinion that previous capitalism is more in contrast to this. McElroy, however, is committed to laissez-faire capitalism .
McElroy wrote a work about her friend Queen Selections Silver under the title Queen Silver: The Godless Girl . Silver is an anarchist ; in spite of politically different opinions, they both share a close friendship.
McElroy writes a regular column on "ifeminists.com", is a member of the liberal-oriented network Liberty and Power and publishes regularly on Lewrockwell.com .
