Advertising book and magazine trade

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the advertising book and magazine trade ( WBZ ), newspaper and magazine subscriptions are sold by commercial agents who purchase the products on offer directly from the publisher. These representatives are also known colloquially as pushers and do not enjoy a very good reputation. About 50% of the press products distributed in this way are radio and television magazines.

Although the industry is now not only advertising directly at the door, but is also trying to win new customers over the phone, advertising in print media and on the Internet, this branch of press sales is on the decline. The WBZ has now joined forces with the Association of German Magazine Publishers (VDZ) to form the Subscriber Advertising Working Group (AGA) . This is intended to ensure qualitative subscription advertising and to push back unclean methods.

Federal Association of Media and Service Dealers eV

The advertising book and magazine trade (WBZ) prepared itself for the market challenges of the future with a realignment and a renaming. At the 2009 annual meeting of the association on May 19 and 20 in Königswinter, it was decided that as a result of a comprehensive reorganization, the association should now be called the Federal Association of Media and Service Dealers (BMD). At the 2015 annual conference, which took place on May 19 and 20 in Berlin, the new association presidium was elected: Wilfried Paepcke (President, also Chief Financial Officer) to succeed the previous BMD Association President Gisbert Komlóssy, Frank Reh (Deputy President, also Board Member for Press), Maximilian Lorenz (Board Member for Books), Volker Paepcke (Board Member for Service & Technology) and Albert Geissinger (Board Member for Insurance). At the 2016 annual conference, which took place on May 10th and 11th in Berlin, it was decided that the association would be merged with the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Aboentenwerbung eV.
