Steinholz – Hirschhagen railway line

In 1935 the stone wood branch was built between Velmeden and Rommerode. Steinholz built a railway branch to the Hirschhagen camp with the Hessisch Lichtenau explosives factory, which was one of the largest explosives factories with a barracks camp for slave labor from 1936 to 1945 during the National Socialist era . An approximately 7 kilometer long circular railway connected the large industrial area in Hirschhagen with several railway connections. Not destroyed in World War II, the route was made unusable afterwards. From the late 1940s, the line was restored and used for civil purposes for several decades. A section of the line has already been dismantled in Hirschhagen.
