The Wesseler WL 24 is an agricultural tractor with an air-cooled engine from the Westphalian manufacturer Wesseler . It was built from 1953 to 1960 and sold under the Wesseler and Feldmeister brands. The identical model with a water-cooled engine is called Wesseler W 24 , the narrow-gauge version is called WLS 24 . Demand for the WL 24 with its engine output of 24 HP (17.7 kW) was particularly high. The WL 24 is considered a reliable pull tractor, which is characterized by high robustness and good processing quality.
technology
The WL 24 is a frameless, block-type tractor with a rigid rear portal axle and a drop-forged, pendulum-mounted portal axle at the front . The track widths of the front and rear axles are adjustable. The front axle could be ordered with a transverse leaf spring , as standard it is unsprung (see picture). The rear axle and gear unit is the ZF A-8/6 tractor drive with dog clutch , which has six unsynchronized, manually shiftable forward gears and one reverse gear. Upon request, the same type of transmission was also available with only five forward gears. The differential gear can be locked with a foot lever, the rear wheels can be braked independently of each other to enable the tractor to turn on the spot. For the force decrease the transmission has an input and disconnectable standard PTO (540 min -1 ). The clutch bell, on which the steering wheel and steering gear are mounted, is flanged to the gearbox.
The WL 24 is powered by the MWM AKD 112 Z , a direct-injection two - cylinder four - stroke diesel engine with air cooling and OHV valve control , 1810 cm 3 displacement and an output of 24 DIN HP (17.7 kW). Early models of the WL 24, however, were given the AKD 12 Z, a swirl chamber diesel engine. The engine is started with a 12 V Bosch starter, which, like the alternator, lighting system, horn and 12 V lead acid accumulator, is part of the tractor's standard equipment. Upon request, the WL 24 was also available with retractable headlights and without a 12 V battery. To attach devices, the WL 24 has a rigid hitch at the front and an adjustable and rotatable trailer coupling of the type Elastic , a Schmitz brand, at the rear . A drawbar is attached to the rear for soil cultivation equipment, and there was also a three-point linkage or a swing frame for attaching work equipment on request. The angular rear fenders, each with a fender seat, are handmade from thick sheet metal. The fenders for the front axle were available at an additional cost. In addition to a pulley drive, additional weights and a cutter bar (see picture) were also part of the optional equipment.
WLS 24
The WLS 24, the narrow-gauge version of the WL 24, was built approx. 80 times and differs in some points from the normal WL 24: The portal axle is rotated by 90 ° so that the tractor is lower and has a longer wheelbase, the axle funnels are shortened for a smaller track width. The front axle is height and track adjustable, and for particularly small gauges, the bonnet is dented so that the handlebar does not hit. The fenders are round and narrow, they have no seats. The headlights are foldable as standard.
