Wessex Island is a small island in the South Georgia archipelago . It is located in the entrance to Smaaland Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it after 2009 helicopters of the type Westland Wessex , in the Falklands War were in retaking of South Georgia by British troops in April 1982 application.
