West Finchley is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Barnet . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 4 on Nether Street and is served by the Northern Line . In 2013, 1.37 million passengers used this station served by the Northern Line.

The subway has only been running here since the early 1940s, but the station was built a few years earlier as a stop for a suburban railway. The main entrance is on Nether Street. A footbridge leads to the platform in the direction of the city center. There is a side entrance there, but it is only open during rush hour . The area around the station is a rather sparsely populated affluent residential area, which means that West Finchley is very poorly frequented outside of rush hour.

In 1933 the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) opened the station on the suburban railway line between Finchley Central and High Barnet , which had existed since 1872. As part of the Northern Heights project, the railway line to High Barnet was integrated into the underground network. U-Bahn operations began on April 14, 1940. Both the U-Bahn and the railway ran on the route for a short period of time, with the last LNER train running in March 1941.
