Wester Kittochside Farm

The Wester Kittochside Farm is a farm near the Scottish city of East Kilbride in the Council Area South Lanarkshire . In 1963 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

From 1567 at the latest, the Reid family managed the Wester Kittochside Farm for generations. Due to the long membership in a family, the transition from traditional agriculture in the 16th century to today's machine-assisted cultivation can be traced on the basis of the existing buildings and machinery. In order to do justice to the new conditions, various buildings have been demolished over the centuries and replaced by contemporary ones. A significant construction phase took place in 1906 when, among other things, a kitchen was added. The farmhouse dates back to 1783. The farm was still in use until the early 1970s. In 1992 the owner bequeathed the homestead to the National Trust for Scotland , which restored Wester Kittochside Farm.
