Westerloog (Middels)
Westerloog is a place in the Aurich district of Middels . In total it covers an area of 1007.7 hectares.
The name first mentioned in 1776 as Middels in the Westerloge is a combination of the East Frisian-Low German term Loog (= village, place) with the cardinal direction West. It describes the location of the place west of the Middels church , which was built around 1200 between the two districts of Osterloog and Westerloog. After the First World War, a resident army was formed, which in September 1919 consisted of 40 men with 15 weapons.
Until the formation of the community of Middels on April 1, 1939, Westerloog formed the community of Middels-Westerloog in the Aurich district.
