Westermarck Society

The Westermarck Society (Finnish: Westermarck-seura ) is the scientific association of Finnish sociologists .

The society was founded in Turku in 1940 in memory of the Finnish classic of sociology Edvard Westermarck . In 1971 the seat of the society was moved to Helsinki, since then it has acted as the national sociological society. It is a member of the Nordic Sociological Association , the European Sociological Association (ESA) and the International Sociological Association (ISA).
