whatchado is an Austrian web portal based in Vienna , which sees itself as a handbook of life stories. The name whatchado comes from the American slang for the question: “ What do you do? “The idea behind it is to support young people in their career orientation by introducing them to video interviews with various professionals on the website. In it, people talk about their job and career. A comparison of inclinations is also offered. After inquiring about interests, users are shown videos of people who answered the same questions the same or similar. The platform covers numerous job profiles and surveys people at all hierarchical levels - from apprentices to federal presidents.

description

whatchado went online as a career platform in 2011. Whatchado GmbH was founded in January 2012 by Ali Mahlodji , Jubin Honarfar, Stefan Patak, Manuel Bovio and Kambis Kohansal Vajargah. The platform's target group is primarily young people, which is why there is intensive communication on social media and various trade fairs and events. Whatchado employees conduct interviews with people from different areas in a one-to-one setting and ask them about their job and their background. The interviews usually take place at the respective workplaces, but always follow the same pattern in order to make them comparable.

Over 6,200 video stories (as of autumn 2017) were produced in this form. Each interview partner answers the same questions as the user in the inclination comparison. Based on this data, videos are suggested to the user by people who have the same interests. If the user is interested in a job description, current job advertisements are suggested to him at the same time. Business partners can set up a business page as their own channel on whatchado and embed the interviews from their employees on the company's own website or Facebook page, thus presenting their company to a broad audience. Central aspects in the concept are the authenticity of the interviewees and the realistic representation of many different job profiles and careers from practice.
