Life

Ali Mahlodji was born to Minoo Mirkhani and Mohsen Mahlodji. As a result of participating in a demonstration against the then government, the family was forced to flee Iran to the Turkish province of Hakari in 1983. There she was brought to the Traiskirchen refugee home with the help of Amnesty International , the United Nations Refugee Agency ( UNHCR ) and the Austrian Ministry of the Interior .

In Vienna, Ali Mahlodji attended a higher technical college (HTL), which he dropped out a year before the Matura . He then began to work as a warehouse worker in a production facility for pharmaceutical products.

After being promoted to production manager, Mahlodji decided to make up for the evening school leaving examination at HTL Spengergasse over the next three years. After graduating from high school, he studied part-time at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in two instead of three years of standard study time.

The company Sun Microsystems became aware of him during his studies , as he applied to them over 70 times. In 2005 he received an invitation to the SUN Network Conference and was then offered an internship as a project manager by Reinhard Töglhofer. When he finished his studies, his internship at SUN Microsystems ended in 2006 because he had to do his community service at the Vienna Diakonie. In 2007 Mahlodji joined Siemens as a trainee management consultant in the SAP area and then switched back to Sun as a “Global Engagement Manager” after a year and a half.

Mahlodji left Sun and started working at Super-Fi as a project manager and later as a teacher at Haizingergasse grammar school. In his autobiography “And what are you doing?” He describes how he noticed through teaching that his students were struggling to make a career choice. This is said to have led him to remember his childhood idea of the handbook of life stories. According to this idea, everyone should describe their job and explain how they got into it. He implemented this handbook of life stories with four friends (Jubin Honarfar, Stefan Patak, Manuel Bovio and Kambis Kohansal Vajargah) in 2011 by publishing the career orientation platform " whatchado ".

In July 2015 Mahlodji handed over the CEO title to his co-founder and childhood friend Jubin Honarfar and has since acted as “Chief Storyteller” and “Chief Visionary” in the role of external ambassador and holds keynotes worldwide. Among other things at the TEDx San Francisco, the European Forum Alpbach , in the UN Headquarters in New York or the Pioneers Festival. According to his own statements, the focus of his keynotes is primarily on the topic of “people and their potential”. He also visits over 50 schools and educational institutions every year and introduces the “whatchaSKOOL” career orientation concept developed by whatchado itself. In addition, he holds at universities such as Vienna University , the University of Applied Sciences Vienna or the University of Linz guest lectures and advises companies on internal and external change and innovation processes.

Mahlodji's first book And what are you doing so? Was published on August 11, 2017 . at ECON Verlag. Since 2018 he has also been working as a trend and future researcher and is the author of the Work Report 2019, which he published together with the Zukunftsinstitut.
