Whiskey Priests
The Whiskey Priests are a folk rock band founded in 1985 around the brothers Gary (songwriting, vocals) and Glen Miller (accordion) from Durham, Northern England . Together with various musicians, they play folk rock influenced by Irish folk and punk in the style of The Pogues , The Men They Couldn't Hang and Billy Bragg . The singing is very rough at times. Gary Miller's texts, in which everyday life in northern England's industrial regions is often discussed, are often praised by critics.
