The non-profit building u. Housing cooperative "Wien-Süd" eGenmbH is a result of the merger of the "non-profit building and housing cooperative for Liesing and the surrounding area, registered cooperative with limited liability" founded in 1910 and the "non-profit building and housing cooperative of the employees of the kk Hof- und Staatsdruckerei, registered cooperative with limited liability in Vienna ”.

The company is located in the 23rd district of Vienna, and Maximilian Weikhart has been the chairman of the board since 1971. In line with its self-image, "Wien-Süd" sees itself as a company that stands for the concept of social housing . Since it was founded, “Wien-Süd” has not only set itself the task of creating affordable living space for lower-income groups that meets appropriate standards, but also integrates the residents' needs that go beyond this into the planning concepts for the residential complexes.

Group

In 2004, "Wien-Süd" was organized as a group to which, in addition to the parent company, the non-profit housing company "Arthur Krupp" Ges.mbH, based in Berndorf , Lower Austria , and the non-profit building and housing association "Merkur" registered limited liability based in Vienna-Liesing , the B-SÜD Gemeinnützige Wohnungsgesellschaft mbH in Eisenstadt and the WSO Gemeinnützige Bau- u. Housing Ltd. in Linz and Wien-Süd Projektmanagement GmbH based in Vienna-Liesing. The "Wien-Süd" group manages around 22,000 residential units (as of 2018), 400 business premises and around 20,000 vehicle parking spaces, both of which are rented and owned, and all of the cooperative's buildings and administrative units are located in Austria. Of the 42,000 or so units that the “Wien-Süd” group manages in total, around 8,500 units are under administration.

In terms of its total assets and construction volume, "Wien-Süd" is one of the largest developers in the non-profit, social construction and housing sector.

“Wien-Süd” also recognized the importance of the renovation and revitalization of old buildings early on and created structures to deal with this topic. As a result, the "Wien-Süd" group of companies also provided services in the field of renovation, the quality of which is proven by awards.

The group is a member of the "Austrian Association of non-profit building associations".
