Wiener Punch-Lieder is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 131). The work was performed for the first time on February 7, 1853 in the Zum Sperl dance hall .

Remarks

The waltz Wiener Punch-Lieder was written for Mardi Gras in 1853 and dedicated to Moritz Gottlieb Saphir, editor of the satirical magazine Der Humorist . The spelling of the title is borrowed from the well-known English satirical magazine Punch . Originally, the name Wiener Punsch was also in discussion, as a supplement to the magazine Der Humorist was called . Ultimately, the English version was chosen. The work itself is performed in concerts to this day.
