The Vienna Rescue Museum is a publicly owned museum in the 17th district of Vienna . It is located in the listed Hernals rescue station on Leopold-Kunschak-Platz (Gilmgasse 18, access via Halirschgasse 12). Founded in 1991, it was reopened in 2013 after reorganization and rebuilding.

Its collection documents the history of the Viennese professional rescue from its establishment as a volunteer organization on the occasion of the Ringtheater fire in 1881, which cost 386 lives, to its present as the only professional rescue in Austria. 300 exhibits (including old ventilators, defibrillators, communication devices, etc.) are presented in three halls. There is space in the stables for special exhibitions. There are three ambulances in the courtyard, the oldest of which is an Opel Blitz and dates from 1942.

Admission is granted by prior arrangement, usually for groups. Tours are organized by appointment. As part of the Long Night of the Museums , the museum is also open to individuals all day.
