The Vienna Science, Research and Technology Fund (WWTF), founded in 2001, is a private and non-profit Viennese funding organization dedicated to research and science .

The main purpose is to strengthen local top-level research, which is why the funding instruments and award procedures of the fund are geared towards this. The main funding instruments are scientific projects with a term of up to four years. In addition, individual tenders are also specifically dedicated to young top scientists. The WWTF is financed by the private foundation for the administration of equity rights, a banking foundation. The WWTF also manages research funding programs for the City of Vienna (Vienna Impulse Program for Humanities, Social and Cultural Studies; Vienna Research Groups for Young Investigators).

The focus is on research, networking and promoting Vienna as a research location. The funding instruments are, for example, funding for projects in basic research or endowed professorships.

The mayor of Vienna, Michael Häupl, is the president of WWTF and the fund's director . Michael Stampfer is the managing director of the office. Since its inception, the WWTF has already awarded over 100 million euros in funding.

Applications are only accepted after calls for proposals; both research institutions and individual researchers (but with institutional involvement) are eligible to apply. As a rule, the applicants are from Vienna.
