Wiggle Ltd. is a UK based online sporting goods retailer. The company is based in Portsmouth , UK. Wiggle serves 80 countries worldwide and the website offers a choice of ten different languages and 15 currencies. Founded in 1999 by Mitch Dall and Harvey Jones, Wiggle has since grown to become one of the largest online retailers of bicycles and sporting goods in the UK developed. Wiggle can also record a not inconsiderable market share abroad.
history
In 1999, Mitch Dall and Harvey Jones founded wiggle.co.uk in the back room of the Butlers Cycles bicycle shop operated by Dall in Portsmouth . Initially, they offered articles from a wide variety of areas from which they hoped to generate good income. However, after concentrating on bicycles, success set in and from 2003 the products were only sold online. Since those beginnings, products from the areas of running, swimming and triathlon have also been added to the Wiggle Ltd. range. recorded. Overall, the product range now consists of around 40,000 SKUs ( Stock Keeping Unit ). These include components, clothing , shoes and sports computers.
In 2006 Wiggle entered into a partnership with the private equity -Unternehmen ISIS , which in Wiggle invested and acquired a business share of 42%. At that time the company was valued at £ 30 million. In December 2011 a large part of the company shares was acquired by private equity investors Bridgepoint Capital under the direction of Managing Director Humphrey Cobbold .
