Wii Classic Controller

The Wii Classic Controller (also called Classic Controller ) is a gamepad manufactured by Nintendo and released on November 19, 2006 for use with the Wii game console . It serves as an alternative control option to the Nunchuk and is connected to the Wii Remote like this . It is the successor to the Nintendo GameCube controller and the predecessor of the Wii U GamePad or the Wii U Pro controller . In 2009 the Wii Classic Controller Pro was an upgrade of the Wii Classic Controller. In 2014 Nintendo announced that it would discontinue production of the Wii Classic Controller and the Wii Classic Controller Pro. A special feature of the controller is that the letters on the buttons are not typically small instead of capitalized by Nintendo. The Wii Classic Controller is connected to the port on the Wii Remote.

Wii Classic Controller Pro

In early 2009, Nintendo announced the Wii Classic Controller Pro (also known as Classic Controller Pro ), which has the same functions as the original Classic Controller with the exception of the shoulder buttons , which are now vertically and no longer horizontally arranged digital trigger-shaped buttons. Instead of an SNES controller, this is now more similar to a GameCube controller, which is almost identical to the DualShock-2 controller . The physical changes include the ZL and ZR buttons, which are now full shoulder buttons, the additional handles under the controller for more comfort and stability, and the analog sticks that are more spaced than the original. The cable is now on top of the controller instead of on the bottom, and the spring-loaded mounting slot under the original model has been removed. The Pro version was first released in August 2009 in white and black versions in Japan. It was then released in November 2009 and April 2010 in Europe and North America (in Europe, however, only in black). The black version is available together with the game Monster Hunter Tri , Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 and SD Gundam Gashapon Wars . In addition to the standard colors, a black version with gold-colored graphics on the face was available in a bundle with Samurai Warriors 3 in Japan . A completely gold-colored version is available in the GoldenEye 007 Classic Edition in a bundle with the GoldenEye 007 game . A red version was sold exclusively in Europe with limited copies by Xenoblade Chronicles and may later also be released separately.

The L and R shoulder buttons are also no longer analog, as was the case with the Classic Controller, but digital.
