Wikibase is an open-source - graph database , which for the knowledge base Wikidata was developed. The database management system consists of a collection of extensions for the MediaWiki software. Wikibase is freely available under the GPL license . The special features of Wikibase include its own data model, versioning and multilingualism. There are several programming interfaces and client programs for accessing Wikibase . The data model of a Wikibase instance is mapped to the Resource Description Framework so that the database can also be queried via SPARQL . In addition to Wikidata, Wikibase is mainly used in science and culture.
