The Wilde Erika (also Feldbahn Büsenbachtal ) was a short-term light rail system with 600 mm gauge near Handeloh in Lower Saxony , which served tourist purposes.

history

According to the plans of its operator, the Feld- und Kleinbahn-Betriebs-GmbH (FKBG), the railway was originally to run from the Büsenbachtal DB stop of the Heidebahn to the Wörme farm and serve agricultural purposes. However, only part of it was built; the DB breakpoint was not reached. The opening took place in 1999.

The municipality of Handeloh did not allow the planned extension of the railway due to local residents' complaints. The last trip took place on September 29, 2002; then the line was dismantled. According to the operator, the reasons for the cessation of operations were the lack of public interest and the lack of support from public authorities.

The railway was not operated as a railway in the legal sense, but according to the regulations of building and trade law.

Track and vehicles

The approximately 1 km long route began at the Alter Schafstall station, which was about 600 meters from the Büsenbachtal station on the Heidebahn . The route then led through the Büsenbachtal to the Kohlhöpen and Wörme Dorf stations. The trains drove at a speed of 6 km / h.

A diesel locomotive of the type Deutz OMZ 122 F was used, which is now used on the Böhmetalbahn , where it bears the name Wilde Erika .
