The wildlife park on the Betzenberg in Kaiserslautern was founded in 1970 with the aim of enabling the population to observe native animal species - including those that used to be at home in the wild around Kaiserslautern but are no longer found today.

Today the park also fulfills a species protection function for the endangered bison and other rare animal species. In addition to owls , wild boars , lynxes , mouflons , rear- bred rear horses and rear cattle and other animals, the wildlife park houses a forest school in the middle of the 120-year-old forest and the oak wreath , a group of trees that is said to be around 300 years old. The park is open all year round and freely accessible.
