The spindle perch ( Zingel ) are a genus of the family of the real perch , which occurs in the area of the Rhone , the Danube and the Vardar .
features
Spindlefish reach a length of about 15 to 50 centimeters. It is named after the spindle-shaped body with a very slender tail stem. The eyes are equipped with a tapetum lucidum ; they can be moved independently of each other (like the chameleon ). The mouth is underneath and horseshoe-shaped. There are over 40 scales along the lateral line organ . The two dorsal fins are separated by a clear gap. The anal fin has 10 to 13½ branched rays, which distinguishes it from the genus Romanichthys with 7½ rays. The swim bladder is missing.

- Zingel balcanicus (Karaman, 1937)
- Streber ( Zingel streber ) ( Siebold , 1863)
- Zingel ( Zingel zingel ) (Linnaeus, 1766)
