History and description

A steam tram operated between Griesheim and Darmstadt from 1886 to 1922 . In 1925 and 1926 an electric tram was installed on the same route . The former depot of the steam tram was replaced by a new depot facility with a reception building.

The flat depot hall has a broad, flat stepped gable . The horizontally profiled clinker walls are remarkable . The high wooden gates have standing diamond-shaped windows . This style element is resumed in the gable of the adjoining station building by clinker strips.

Today the building houses cultural institutions of the city of Griesheim.

Monument protection
