Wilhelm Maas (politician)

Wilhelm Maas (born March 3, 1922 in Moers ; † August 4, 1993 ) was a German politician ( FDP , then CDU ).

education and profession

Wilhelm Maas attended elementary school and vocational school. He obtained his Abitur as a prisoner of war. In 1940 he passed the sales assistant examination and in 1950 the skilled worker examination. In 1952 the master craftsman's examination as a sawmill master followed and Maas worked as a works manager. From 1952 he became self-employed. He was the main shareholder in a construction company and owner of a building materials business.

politics

Wilhelm Maas was a member of the FDP from 1954 to 1970. He worked as district chairman in Moers from 1965 to 1970, as district chairman of the FDP Niederrhein and as a member of the state executive from 1966 to 1970. From 1956 he was a council member of the city of Moers and also chairman of the parliamentary group from 1957 to 1970. Maas was a co-founder of the National Liberal Action (NLA) and its deputy chairman. Maas was from July 25, 1966 to May 27, 1975 a member of the 6th and 7th state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia , into which he entered via the state list.

On October 9, 1970, Maas resigned from the FDP and thus also from the FDP parliamentary group. He was non-attached until December 2, 1971, after which he joined the CDU and the CDU parliamentary group in the state parliament.

He was also the chairman of the Moers House and Landowners Association.
