The Wilhelmstrasse is a street in the city of Kassel .

history

Wilhelmsstrasse was laid out in the course of the urban planning plans of Landgrave Karl by master builder Paul du Ry , and it was named after Landgrave Wilhelm VIII of Hesse . It leads to Karlsplatz and crosses Obere Königsstraße at the height of the town hall . In the 1820s there were expansion and expansion plans for the street, but they were not implemented. Since the late 1970s, it has been converted into a pedestrian zone in stages. During documenta 8 , a work of art by Richard Serra was on the street.
